Can OWLS Change Their Spots?

By Christine Kudija, Treasurer

There are O.W.L.S. and then there are O.W.L.S. Not wanting to be confused with the Oregon Women Lawyers Society, we Older and Wiser Law Students are trying to agree on a new name. As this goes to print, we have decided on "De Novo," to show that we've embarked on a new adventure and a new phase of life. And it's Latin, which gives a measure of class to the organization. (Did someone suggest it sounds like a '70s Chevy?)

De Novo has sponsored two informative and interesting breakfast meetings with practicing attorneys who entered law as second careers. VP Anita Winkler has arranged some future meetings–the next one is on Thursday, Feb. 18, at 7:30 a.m. in Seminar B. We invite anyone who is interested in learning from those who have entered the profession with prior career experience to come and bring your breakfast. Check the De Novo bulletin board in the student lounge for details!
