I am currently in my first year of teaching in the Mathematical Sciences Department at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR. As a former faculty member at Occidental College, I supervised two undergraduate students in summer research experiences and supported several students in preparing for research experiences and presentations. I served as chapter advisor of Pi Mu Epsilon at Occidental, where I organized a speaker series featuring accessible, entertaining mathematical talks aimed at an undergraduate audience. I also supported students to attend and present at the MAA Section Meeting and at the Pi Mu Epsilon student session at Mathfest. |
Dr.
Alissa Crans, Loyola Marymount University
Having been both an undergraduate and graduate student in Southern California, I have attended the MAA section meetings for the past ten years. I participated in the student poster session multiple times and I encouraged undergraduates to participate in the session both while I was a graduate student and this year as a faculty member. In my first year as a faculty member, I have assisted two of our majors in preparing talks that they then presented at the Joint Meetings and the Nebraska Conference for Undergraduate Women in Mathematics. This year, I brought one student to the Joint Meetings, one to the Nebraska Conference, and four students to the spring MAA section meeting. In addition, I serve as one of the faculty advisors of our department’s Math Club/Pi Mu Epsilon Chapter. |
Dr.
Kendra Killpatrick, Pepperdine University
I am an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Pepperdine University and serve as the faculty advisor for the student MAA chapter. In addition, I formed a chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon, the national math honor society, in 2004 and serve as the chapter advisor. I have supervised 9 undergraduate students in undergraduate research projects and have taken students to Mathfest, the fall and spring MAA section meetings and the Joint Meetings for the past three years. I have had students give presentations in both student talk sessions and student poster sessions at these conferences. |
