AUSTRALIA: REGIONAL AREA STUDY (Spring) - Prerequisite: None. Program: Study will focus on history and culture, natural history and marine biology, and contemporary issues of Australia's urban coastal areas. Based in Brisbane, the program will include excursions to the Great Barrier Reef, rain forests and other regional areas of ecological and ethnic importance. Fulfills the category "A" natural sciences and the two-course international studies requirement.

AUSTRALIA: PSYCHOLOGY INTERNSHIP (Summer) - Prerequisite:
Psych 100, 200, 300 and Junior or Senior class standing; or Psych 100 and consent of instructor. Program:
Study will focus on history, culture and psychology in contemporary Australia. The program's location is the urban coast area of Brisbane, Queensland, where students will live with Australian host families. The program begins with 2 weeks of academic sessions in a lecture/discussion format and continues with a 5 week internship in a social service agency of interest. Fulfills the 8-credit international studies general education requirement. Application deadline: February 06, 2009.

NEW ZEALAND: REGIONAL AREA STUDY (Spring, Alternate Years. Next Program: Spring 2011, Apply Spring 2010)- Prerequisite:
Biology 141 and Biology 151. Program: The interplay of isolation, colonization, and extinction in islands is a common theme in cultural, historical, and biological studies. As a "lost" part of the ancient Gondwonan super-continent, New Zealand has a rich biological and cultural history that exemplifies the theme of isolation and repeated colonization. The program focuses on both the cultural and biological nuances of this unique location, and will offer Lewis & Clark Biology majors the opportunity to make progress towards departmental requirements while overseas.
