The J. Karle Observatory at Lewis & Clark is essentially a student-run facility.
Capable and interested students are employed to lead observing sessions each semester for the current astronomy class, and other students are encouraged to attend the viewing as well. The astronomy guide(s) operates the telescope(s) at least weekly, if the skies are clear of clouds. Among sights often seen are Saturn and Jupiter (and their respective sallelites), and favorite phenomena of the professor and of the guide(s), such as the Andromeda Galaxy and the Ring Nebula.
