Fair trade meets trade fair: Ten Thousand Villages comes to LC
The latest segment of the “Missing Pieces and Whole Stories” series, put on by Lewis & Clark’s Graduate School of Education and Counseling, welcomed Portland representatives of Ten Thousand Villages on November 2. The fair trade organization has been representing international artisans for 60 years and is one of the founding members of the International Fair Trade Association.

Nature offers own theatrics on closing night of ‘Tartuffe’
On Saturday night, during the Theatre department’s production of Tartuffe, audience members were surprised when the Fir Acres Theatre brought the outdoors in, showering several spectators with rain that had built up on the roof.

Despite low turnouts from student body, Residence Life Committee forges ahead
The fifth meeting of the Residence Life (and New Student Orientation Advisory) Committee occured on Thursday, Nov 2.
Although only two students were present at each of the two open forums hosted by the RLC last week, the group remains dedicated to presenting a cumulative report to the Dean of Students in the spring.

LC student body shakes while East Portland quakes
Lewis & Clark students, along with many Portland residents, got a shaking surprise on the night of Sunday, Nov. 5. At 9:34pm, an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.6 occurred 10 miles beneath the surface, just east of the Willamette river under the Laurelhurst neighborhood in Southeast Portland, according to Ian Madin, chief Scientist for the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries.
