This is the first announcement of the 2001 Pacific Northwest Political Science Association Annual Conference, which is scheduled for October 18-20 at the Coeur d’Alene Resort in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Please submit paper proposals and offers to be a discussant directly to the chair/coordinator whose panel best fits your interest. The deadline for submissions to the program is August 2. We encourage participants to submit their proposals early since panel coordinators may be out of town at various times during the summer.

We also encourage you to stay at the Coeur d’Alene Resort since we have a contractual arrangement for a set number of their rooms. You can make your reservations by calling 1-800-688-5253 (reservations cannot be made online). When you call, remember to identify yourself as a PNWPSA participant. The Economy room rate is $115 for a single or double occupancy. Rates are guaranteed for conference participants until September 7. Cancellation without penalty is possible until 7 days prior to your arrival date.

Registration has increased by $10 for all participants except graduate students. Panelists are required to pre-register by September 7. Your name will not appear in the final program if you do not pre-register by the September deadline. We also ask that all conference participants pre-register by that date. Registration and a welcome reception begin at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 18. The program panels will be scheduled for all day Friday and Saturday until approximately 12:30p.m. Due to its success in 1998, we have once again organized an optional lake cruise on Friday afternoon. The cost is $15 and includes a private cruise and hors d’oeuvres. There will also be a no-host bar on board. Click here to download the registration from in Adobe Acrobat format.

Thank you and I look forward to seeing you in Coeur d’Alene in October.
Sincerely,
Lisa J. Carlson
