PACIFIC NORTHWEST POLITICAL SCIENCE ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING
October 19-21, 2006

Dear PNWPSA Colleague:

This is the second announcement of the 2006 Pacific Northwest Political Science Association Annual Meeting, scheduled for October 19-21 at the Mt. Bachelor Village Resort in Bend, Oregon. 

Enclosed you will find the Call for Papers and Participants. Please submit paper proposals and offers to be a discussant directly to the chair/coordinator whose panel best fits your interest.  A list of panels and their respective chairs is listed below.  The deadline for submissions to the program is August 11th.  We encourage participants to submit their proposals early since panel coordinators may be out of town at various times during the summer.

This year the association will be posting panel papers on our website.  Papers will be posted prior to the conference and removed from the website a few weeks after the conference. Participants wishing to submit papers to be posted on the PNWPSA website should send them in Adobe PDF format.  If this is unavailable to you, they can be sent in Microsoft Word or RTF-RichTextFile (if you do not have Microsoft Word).  Papers should be electronically submitted to David Lynx (PNWPSA webmaster) at this email address: .  Please indicate your panel and the title of your paper with your submission.  Papers should be submitted no later than October 1st. 

We also encourage you to stay at the Mt. Bachelor Village Resort since we have acontractual arrangement for a set number of their rooms.  You can make your reservations by calling 1-800-452-9846.  When you call, remember to
identify yourself as a PNWPSA participant.   The following rooms and rates are available: 

• River Ridge Executive $110
• One-bedroom Ski House $135 (also available with loft - $149)

In addition, the following condominiums are available; each include master bedrooms and baths, kitchen, dining and living room, fireplace, deck and hot tub, with a spectacular view of the Deschutes River:

• Two-bedrooom River Ridge condo - $270.00
• Three-bedroom River Ridge condo - $340.00

This is a unique opportunity for our members, in that the condominiums can be shared with your colleagues or with family members. Please complete the enclosed registration form and return it, along with your check in the appropriate amount, to Nancy Curran at the address indicated. Panelists are required to pre-register by September 8th.  Your name will not appear in the final program if you do not pre-register by the September deadline.  We also ask that all conference participants pre-register by that date.

Registration and a welcome reception begin at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 19th.  The program panels will be scheduled for all day Friday and Saturday until approximately 12:30 p.m.  We have made arrangements with Deschutes Brewery for a Friday early evening beer-tasting event.  If you wish to participate in this social function, please enclose with your registration the additional $30.00 fee payable by check to PNWPSA.
