1940s
Berkeley (Kelly) Snow '48 is a land and real
estate acquisition specialist in California's wine country.
He recently had a reunion with Price Burlingame, his former
Lewis & Clark marketing professor. Kelly lives in Santa
Rosa, Calif.
1950s
Jerry Weseley Harris '55, M.A. '56 has more than
500 published choral compositions, arrangements and
editions, sold throughout the world. Jerry teaches violin
several afternoons a week at St. Mary of the Valley Grade
School in Beaverton and also teaches music at Portland State
University. He directs a Portland professional choral group,
the Northwest Chorale, and is the music director at Murray
Hills Christian Church in Beaverton. He also has started a
small music publishing company, Northwest Music
Publishers.
George Burgess '57 and Yvonne Pearson Burgess
'58 reside in Tigard. Yvonne volunteers at a public
library and also paints.
Frederick Curtice '58 is practicing dentistry in
Kaneohe, Hawaii. He lives in Honolulu.
1960s
Monty Vincent '60 retired from the Whatman/Arbor
Tech organization on Dec. 31, 1998. He was president and
founder of Arbor Tech, a leader in the field of separation
sciences and a custom manufacturer of medical filtration
devices. Monty lives in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Ann Ewing Bush '61 is a retired school librarian.
She is enjoying retirement doing volunteer work, visiting
her sons and bicycling. She rode more than 2,500 miles last
year. Ann lives in Fremont, Calif.
Joseph C. Huber Jr. '61 is a member of the Order
of the Antelope and is serving as Chief Whitetail. The Order
of the Antelope is sponsored by the Lake County Chamber of
Commerce and was founded in 1932 to create a federal
wildlife refuge on Hart Mountain for all wildlife,
especially for the dwindling numbers of antelope. The 64th
annual convention of the order took place at the Deer Creek
Inn in Lakeview in July.
Naomi (Kay) Dougherty Anderson '62 retired in
March 1998 after 30 years of teaching seventh- to 12th-grade
mathematics. Kay taught at Portland's Westview High School.
She lives in Beaverton.
Linda M. Hines '62 is president and chief
executive officer of the Delta Society, a charitable
organization that promotes animals helping people and people
helping animals. In March, Linda received the Hill's Animal
Welfare and Humane Ethics Award at the 66th American Animal
Hospital Association's annual meeting in Denver. The award
is given annually to a veterinarian or nonveterinarian who
has advanced animal welfare through extraordinary service or
by furthering humane principles, education and
understanding.
Judith Stephenson Littleton '62 has retired to
Phoenix, Ariz., after a 36-year career leading a variety of
computer projects, most recently at Lawrence Livermore
National Labs (LLNL). Judith received her master's degree in
mathematics from University of California at Los Angeles in
1966 while working for the U.S. Navy and subsequently
designed American Airlines' new SABRE system. After 25 years
in classified satellite projects for the U.S. Department of
Defense, she joined the U.S. Department of Energy at LLNL in
1991. She ran the lab's nuclear materials accounting system,
managed the replacement of the national nuclear materials
system from Oak Ridge, Tenn., to Atlanta and helped to build
a nuclear materials accounting system for Russia's MINATOM
agency in 1997.
Edgar B. Martin '62 joined the Security Bank
Holding Co. as president and chief operating officer in
January. Edgar was formerly the president of Commercial Bank
of Salem, a wholly owned affiliate bank of West Coast
Bancorp.
Len Edholm '63 is a counselor and track coach at
Chemeketa Community College in Salem. He has a master's
degree in counseling from Santa Clara University. He is a
new grandfather and lives in Tigard.
Louise Dennis Kasper '63 is the public affairs
coordinator for the Oregon Liquor Control Commission. She
lives in Portland.
Dick Woolworth '63 was elected chair of the Blue
Cross and Blue Shield Association board of directors in
November 1998 at the associ-ation's annual meeting in San
Diego. Currently, Dick is chair and chief executive officer
of The Regence Group and will continue in this role during
his board tenure. He lives in Lake Oswego.
Douglas A. Reed '64 has been awarded the
Accredited Buyer Representative designation by the Real
Estate Buyer's Agent Council of the National Association of
Realtors. Requirements for this designation include a course
in buyer representation and documented practical experience
in the field of buyer presentation. Douglas is a sales
associate with Real Estate 100 in Lincoln City.
Dave Shipley '64 and Christine Clark were married
April 4, 1998. Dave teaches social studies at Capital High
School in Olympia, Wash., and chairs the Olympia Heritage
Commission and the Thurston County Historic Commission. He
lives in Olympia, Wash.
Ed Evans '68 is pastor at First Congregational
Church in Van-couver, Wash.
Jerry Miller '68 has been a business development
manager for GE Power Systems since October 1997. GE Power
Systems is an $8.3-billion unit of the General Electric Co.
In the last 14 months, Jerry has completed three
acquisitions for GE: Liberty Technical Services, Charleston,
S.C.; Reintjes Specialty Services, Kansas City, Mo.; and
Ultrasonic Field Services, Los Angeles. Jerry lives in
Scotts Valley, Calif.
Robert W. Rynerson '68 is the assistant manager of
service planning and scheduling for Regional Transportation
District in Denver. Robert has launched a small Web site to
help students with information about Berlin during the Cold
War. Visitors are welcome to contribute to it. He is
particularly looking for factual material or first-person
recollections. The site is written for an advanced high

Cran Lucas '69 is a professor of biology at
Louisiana State University in Shreveport. He is a member of
the Plant Stress Research Team. The research group is
working on developing stress-resistant cotton using genetic
engineering techniques. Cran is also active in a local
astronomy club.
Kathleen Tyau '69 has written her second novel,
Makai, published in June by Farrar, Straus & Giroux of
New York. Kathleen's first novel, A Little Too Much Is
Enough (Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 1995), won the Pacific
Northwest Booksellers Association Award for fiction and was
also a finalist for the Oregon Book Award. She also won a
National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship for fiction in

Norm Enzor '70 has started his own real estate
firm in Multnomah Village called Willamette Realtors. Norm

Nola Lamken '70 is resident manager at Silverwood
Wilderness Sanctuary-San Diego Audubon Society. She lives in
Lakeside, Calif.
Susan K. Bolenbaker Sause '70 was honored as
"Woman of the Year" by St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in
Portland for her many years serving as church treasurer.
Susan, a certified public accountant, lives in Tigard.
Leslie Baxter '71 is a professor of communication
at the University of Iowa.
Harry Hoogesteger '71 is watershed coordinator for
Oregon's south coast. His work involves supervising
restoration projects as part of the Oregon Salmon Plan. He
lives in Gold Beach.
Tina Buettell '72 received her master's degree in
physical therapy in May, graduating cum laude from
California State University at Fresno. Tina has been
researching the effectiveness of complex lymphedema therapy
on brachial lymphedema in post-breast cancer women. She
lives with her husband, Greg Davis, and son Linn, 13, in
Milwaukie, Ore.
Chris Jay '72 was named to the 1998 Broker Hall of
Fame by Research magazine as one of five outstanding brokers
honored for distinguished service. Chris is senior vice
president of investments for Merrill Lynch in Anchorage,
Alaska.
Terri Vann '72, M.A.T. '86 is vice principal in
charge of instruction at Hood River Valley High School. She
has been employed by Hood River County School District since
1975. Terri lives in Hood River.
James Allen '73, J.D. '78 and Lynn Schuman
Allen '74, J.D. '78 are lawyers in computer consulting
at JLA Management of Florida Inc. They live in Coral
Springs, Fla.
Dan Chun '73 began his fifth year as senior pastor
of First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu. He and his wife,
Pam, also lead Hawaiian Islands Ministries, which has
presented conferences and seminars for 15,000 church leaders
since its inception in 1985. Dan is a speaker for Promise
Keepers and last year spoke at Oxford University in England
for the C.S. Lewis centennial celebration.
Christine (Chris) Bourdette '74 is an artist
currently working as a design team member for the Tri-Met
light rail extension to Portland International Airport.
Recently, she had an exhibition at the Elizabeth Leach
Gallery.
William (Bill) Smethurst '74, M.A.T. '79 was vice
principal of Milwaukie High School for eight years until he
accepted the position of Estacada High School principal in
July 1998. Bill and his wife, Linda, have three children:
Kirsten, 26, Kylie, 22, and Kacy, 20.
Lee Whalen '75 and his wife, Amy, are parents of
twins, Alex Tyler and Owen Lee, born Feb. 15. They live in
Seattle.
Gwen Pacarro '76 was named one of the nation's 10
outstanding brokers in 1998 by Registered Representative
magazine. Gwen is senior vice president and financial
adviser at the Honolulu branch of Morgan Stanley Dean Witter
and was selected for her superior performance in business,
her dedication to client service and a strong sense of
community involvement.
Stuart Dugan '77 is the new chaplain at Sheldon
Jackson College, a Presbyterian mission college in Sitka,
Alaska. Stuart's wife, Evelyn Frerks Dugan '77, works as a
customer service agent for Alaska Airlines. They live in
Sitka.
Robin L. Gulde '77 is a certified public
accountant with Gulde & Ortquist, P.C. The accounting
firm opened a new office in the Gateway business district of
Portland in September 1998. Robin recently received a
Certificate of Educational Achievement in Estate Planning
from Surgent & Associates.
Judy Fine-Eichner '78 is a part-time instructor in
the undergraduate business department at Concordia
University in Mequon, Wis.
Pauline (Paula) Grahame '78 and John Third were
married Aug. 6, 1998, in Vancouver, B.C., and honeymooned in
Italy and Scotland. They live in Vancouver, where they both
practice law.
Rob Kellum '78 and his wife, Tracy, are parents of
Scott Robert, born Feb. 7, 1998. Rob is chief operating
officer and a partner at SUHRCO Residential Properties in
Bellevue, Wash. They reside in Issaquah, Wash.
Allan Linehan '78 is an instructor and department
chair for a two-year advanced education in general dentistry
residency. Allan is a board certified prosthodontist and
specializes in crowns, bridges, partial and complete
dentures, implant prostheses and aesthetic dentristry. He is
a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force. Allan lives with
his wife, Neen, in Ocean Springs, Miss. They are parents of
Chelsea, 16, and Keegan, 14.
Toby Padgett '78 is co-owner of
PetMoms/HouseCalls, a personalized professional pet-sitting
business in the Portland area. She reports business is so
brisk she is considering national franchising. Toby lives in
Tigard.
Ann Vogel '78 is a free-lance writer for the
Bremerton Sun. She lives in Bremerton, Wash.
Keith Gallagher '79 and his wife, Sam, have twin
boys, Percy Gene and Owen Hugh. Keith is a professor of
history at the University of San Francisco and Sam is a
middle school teacher. They live in Berkeley, Calif.
Jon Horn '79 and his wife, Sonja, are parents of
Aysha Brigitte, born Feb. 14, 1998. Jon is co-owner of
Alpine Archaeological Consultants Inc. Sonja is an operating
room nurse at Montrose Memorial Hospital. They live in
Montrose, Colo.
Dianne Hanna Peterson '79 was recently elected
president of the Larimer County (Colorado) Bar Association.
Dianne is a partner in the law firm of Lococo &
Peterson, LLC, of Loveland, Colo. Lococo & Peterson
focuses on juvenile law, guardian ad litem, adoption and
international custody disputes. Dianne and her partner also
operate Partners in Resolution, a dispute resolution firm.
Dianne and her husband, Carl, live in Loveland with their
two daughters, Julie, 9, and Lauren, 5.
Ronald Towner '79 recently had his second book
published, The San Rafael Survey: Reconstructing 18th
Century Navajo Population Dynamics in the Dinetah (Arizona
State Museum Archaeological Research Series No. 190). Ronald
lives in Tucson, Ariz.
Matt Wuerker '79, a political cartoonist, had a
new collection of cartoons published, Meanwhile, in Other

: A Graphic Look at Politics in the Empire of
Money, Sex and Scandal (Common Courage Press, 1998). Matt
