With
the city of Portland situated about 70 miles from the snowy inactive volcano
Mt. Hood, our attentions are often diverted from our studies by the smell
of snow on the easterly wind. So one of the primary functions of
the club is the organization of transportation to the mountain. We
are currently trying to set up a carpooling system, and we are hoping to
organize college van transportation soon.
Man cannot live on snow alone,
though, and one of the other functions of the club is to bring the alpine
snowsport community here at L&C a little closer together. Portland
actually has a fairly large group of ski and snowboarding enthusiasts.
There are generally a few ski-expos each year and the annual Warren Miller
movie always makes a stop here in the fall. We also are planning
some club activities like tuning- and equipment maintenance workshops,
movies, and outings.
We will continue to update this
page as we get new information, so check back with us!
sincerely,
Dan Drazen, ski club prez.
