I. Team Reports
A. Final Team Check-ins, almost all
sports concluded their season
within the last 2 weeks.
-WTrack: hopefully sending at least one
person to nationals
-Crew: last regatta of the season this
weekend
-Lacrosse:
won championship game last Saturday against Linfield
B. Introduction of new reps for next year
II. Announcements
A. Mike Sherman from Club Sports
-First year of Club Sports' athletic council
-First
time a rep came after being welcomed to attend SAAC meetings
B. Women's J.V. Soccer Program to
begin in the fall, moving to a varsity
program in 2004. Opening head coach position within the next
week.
-Lights
will be installed on the football field this summer
-Track
is also hoping to host a couple of home meets next year,
making
it a two-day event by using an off-site location for the field events.
C. Student Athlete Handbooks for next
year, included:
1.Cover
Letter in Handbook-learning how to prioritize schoolwork while in season, and making
sure that professors are informed ahead of time when athletes will miss class
due to sporting events. Odessa is
working on this letter this summer, so please email her directly if you would
like to help, oweber@lclark.edu
-General times for practices
-Role of SAAC
-List of SAAC members & their
majors
-Schedule/hours of the athletic
facilities
-Training room hours and personnel
-Employment options within the
athletic department/contact info
-List of athlete mentors
-Include a list of club sport
offerings, and contact info
-If there
is anything you feel we left out, or you would like to assist with its

more involved within the surrounding community (i.e. volunteering in elementary
schools)

III. Reflections
A. Thank you to KC and Sara for
creating a definite focus for SAAC's future

C. Appointing a Community Service
Representative in the future
-Besides the can food drive in the fall, SAAC
did not carry out any other community service activity this year

-Had a slow and tough start, but we will resume this plan in the fall
