      Orval K. Jacques BS ’54, June 5, 2019, age 88. Jacques worked for Boeing in Seattle, Washington; Cascade Manufacturing in Portland; and then the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the Kiwanis, the Elks, and the Shriners. Survivors include his nieces and nephew, Sandra, Catherine, and Kelly; several great-nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members and friends.

      Shirley A. Jewel BS ’54, February 22, 2018, age 90. After graduation, Jewel and her husband lived in Petaluma, California, where she worked as a medical technologist. Jewel volunteered as a driver for cancer patients and as a caretaker for animals that were homeless or in need of rehabilitation. She also loved bird-watching and reading. Survivors include husband Raymond; children Marguerite, Carolyn, Matthew, Mark, and Geoffrey; and four grandchildren.

      Bonny McKnight ’54, January 7, 2019, age 82. McKnight was an active volunteer and community advocate and organizer in the Portland area. She was awarded a Spirit of Portland award in 2003. Survivors include her sons, Michael and Christopher, and one grandson.

      Jean Marie Peterson BS ’54, March 11, 2017, age 85.

      Helen Doig West ’54, November 6, 2019, age 87. West was married to a military man and lived all over the world, eventually retiring in Renton, Washington. There she volunteered at Valley Medical Center and enjoyed cruises to the Caribbean Islands. She also liked spending time with friends in the great outdoors, gardening, solving puzzles, and eating seafood. Survivors include her daughters, Denise and Janine.

      Lyle O. Wilson BA ’54, November 22, 2018, age 87. Wilson worked as a pastor for much of his life, serving in churches across Oregon. Survivors include his wife, Vera; children Jim, Joanne, and Joyce; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
