Jackson Thein BA ’18, who is pursuing a master’s degree in public health at the University of Edinburgh, is working with a professor on a paper for publication in a medical journal. He has also pinned down his dissertation project, which will be a genetic/infectious epidemiology project involving antibacterial resistance genes and how they are distributed in various populations. He says he keeps busy by volunteering in high schools and on the university campus.

Jackson Thein BA ’18 reports that he is greatly enjoying his time at the University of Edinburgh, where he studies epidemiology and statistics. He’s been surprised to find he also likes learning about health ethics. When he’s not studying, he works as a university ambassador, giving tours and meeting with visiting high school groups. He also serves on a postgraduate teaching evaluation committee and student council. He credits Lewis & Clark with having prepared him for this journey and plans to visit Portland soon.
