You have chosen to have your email messages and folders moved over for you. On the next page, please be sure that the “move mail for me” box is checked.

Please note that while your account will be created quickly, it can take up to one business day for all of your saved email and folders to appear in your LCmail account.  You will still be able to access that mail through webmail.lclark.edu, during the transfer, but should avoid doing anything else from webmail, such as changing your settings, sending mail, or organizing your mail into folders as these changes may not be reflected in the transfer.

After You Make the Switch

  • You will access your LCmail through lcmail.lclark.edu instead of through webmail.lclark.edu.  Update your bookmarks accordingly.
  • You will have to change your account settings on your desktop client as well as your mobile devices once you have made the switch.  If you use Thunderbird, follow the instructions on our helpsheet.  If you use another desktop client, Google provides instructions.  Below are our general mail settings:
  • Set the IMAP server hostname to imap.gmail.com
  • Set the IMAP security type to SSL/TLS
  • Add @lclark.edu to the Username
  • Recreate signature and other preferences (forward as attachment, quoted reply location, etc.) in LCmail.  Transfer contacts.
  • Don’t see your old emails?  Don’t panic!  It takes up to a business day for your emails to get transferred, but you’ll receive new ones right away in your LCmail account.
Things to know
  • You will have access to your saved email and address books through webmail through May 7th, but will not receive any new messages there.  You should not send email through the webmail interface, nor change any of your settings once you have requested your LCmail account.  Think of it as an
archive rather than an active email account.
  • You can switch between multiple accounts through the LCmail interface, including personal gmail accounts.  To do this, follow the instructions on our helpsheet, or watch the screencast.
  • If you previously set up a gmail or google account using your @lclark.edu email as your login, you will be prompted to change the name of that account, as
it is not properly a part of the Lewis & Clark domain.

By clicking the button below, you agree that you have read and understand the information presented above, and are ready to create your account.
