Voicemail Retention Policy

Voicemail retention settings will be changing on February 29, 2024 to a 30/30/30 approach. These new voicemail settings will be as follows:

  • New and unopened messages will be automatically moved to “archived” status at the 30 day mark. Archived messages can still be retrieved and heard from the voicemail application.
  • Archived and saved messages will be automatically moved to the “trash” 30 days from their saved or archived status date. Messages in the trash can still be retrieved and heard.
  • Messages in the trash will be PERMANENTLY deleted 30 days after being sent to the trash. Messages in the trash can be recovered within 30 days, before permanently deleted. Please contact itservice@lclark.edu if you find yourself in this situation.

Examples:

New and unopened message: A new voicemail is received on 3/1/24. If you do not listen to it, the message will be moved to “archived” status on 3/31/24. On 4/30/24 it will be moved to the trash. On 5/30/24 it will be PERMANENTLY deleted from Gmail and your voicemail inbox.

In this scenario, if you needed to retrieve an email in the trash, before it is permanently deleted on 5/30, you could contact itservice@lclark.edu .
