FTI Afternoon Session - Beyond resources: Open Educational Practices
Date: 12:45pm - 2:00pm PDT May 20 Location: Council Chamber
- j. delwiche
Open educational practices are pedagogical strategies that use the affordances of open licenses to get students involved in creative activities with real-world audiences. David Wiley is credited with coining the term “open pedagogy” and contrasts this type of assessment with “disposable assignments” that have no value once a grade is assigned. We’ll use this workshop time for hands-on practice applying open practices to an assessment that you currently use.
Presenter Amy Hofer, Coordinator, Statewide Open Education Library Services, is the OER librarian for Oregon’s 24 community colleges and universities. You can visit the Open Oregon Educational Resources website at openoregon.org. By night she is a fiddler and square dance caller.
FTI Afternoon Sessions are open to all in the campus community, so feel free to drop in and join us!
