  • Two people lean over a campfire and blow air onto it

Sequoia Building

Learn how to start a fire without matches or a lighter using a handmade bow-drill! This skill is a lot of fun, and will build you outdoor skills. Even if you never use this skill in an emergency, knowing how to build a fire without matches will improve your ability to make a fire any time. (Any time there is no fire ban, that is – we don’t need more wildfires!)

This is the perfect opportunity to take a break and get outdoors with your “pod mates, or connect with other students and engage with nature in a creative way.

No Experience Necessary! This will be a fun and safe way to enjoy the sunshine with your “pod,” or sign up on your own to meet new people!

Covid-19 Mitigation:

  • Consider signing up with your “pod” mates
  • Masks and 6ft distancing required
  • Groups capped at 10 people (including leaders)

Meeting Place:
Sequoia building yard on south campus. Look for the “College Outdoors” sign.
