Wilderness First Responder (WFR)

This course is taught in TWO PARTS, both of which are required for certification: Part 1: Wednesday evening, Feb. 24 - Sunday, Feb. 28th (February Break). Part 2: Friday evening, Mar. 19 - Tuesday, Mar. 23 (March break)   Note: THIS EVENT IS NOT 100% CONFIRMED YET. Confirmation is pending instructor staffing and subject to cancelation based on the Covid-19 situation at the time the course occurs. We will not collect payments until staffing is confirmed.  About: Wilderness First Responder (WFR) training is the hands-on medical course that is the industry standard for backcountry rangers, river guides, outdoor guides, as well as NOLS and Outward Bound instructors. The course includes engaging classroom sessions and outdoor scenarios taught by medical professionals from the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). All College Outdoors Trip Leaders and Assistant Leaders are required to be WFR certified in order to lead off-campus trips. Learn more at the NOLS website. Fee:$395 (special Covid-19 reduced price for LC student in 2021 only; normally $650 for students and $775 general public) Financial aid is available on a need-based sliding scale for those who qualify. A sliding scale means that if you have greater financial need as demonstrated on your FAFSA, then you will pay less for the class. These scholarships are funded by the student government, ASLC.
