2017 IME Banquet

On Wednesday, April 5, the Office of Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement held its 12th Annual IME Banquet and recognized several community members for their contributions toward developing and supporting a diverse and inclusive campus community. Awards were given to following honorees:

Ray Warren Leadership Award: Tiffany Farmer ’18

Kristi Williams Faculty Award: Elliott Young

Kristi Williams Staff Award: Anna Gonzales

Emerging Leader Awardees: Sabrina Cerquera ’20 and Pilar Karlin ’20

“I was very surprised and honored to receive the award,” Farmer said. “I love the LC community. Everything I’m involved in on campus, I put my all into it and I enjoy it. But to be honest it is not easy; many people see great programs, successful events, me laughing and having a great time, but they do not see all work behind the scenes. Many are unable to see the sacrifices I make for the LC community, but in that moment IME did. Receiving the Ray Warren Leadership Award deeply touched me because I thought no one was looking. I got so use to giving LC all that I have and not expecting anything in return—but to know that LC sees me was humbling.”

“Being awarded with the Emerging Leader award holds a lot of sentimental value to me,” Cerquera said. “It reminds me that I have a home at LC that supports my growth in leadership in the next four years. It is through IME that I was able to find my niche and space as a Hispanic first generation student.”
