A Rhodes and Danforth scholar and recipient of th e National Humanities Medal\, Jenkinson is the author of several books\, including The Character of Meriwether Lewis: "Completely Metamorphosed" i n the American West (2000). Jenkinson has portrayed the characters of Tho mas Jefferson and Meriwether Lewis since 1981\, and has performed before the Supreme Court\, Cabinet Members\, and hundreds of audiences in forty- nine states\, as well as for Presidents Clinton and Bush Since his first work with the North Dakota Humanities Council in the late 1970s\, includi ng a pioneering first-person interpretation of Meriwether Lewis\, Clay Je nkinson has made thousands of presentations throughout the United States and its territories\, including Guam and the Northern Marianas.
