The Graduate School invites all members of the Le wis &\; Clark College community to participate in free public forums a nd ongoing discussions with Open Spaces: Speaking and Listening Across Po litical Differences and Missing Pieces &\; Whole Stories Conversation Series The Oregon Center for Inquiry and Social Innovation offers Open S paces: Speaking and Listening across Political Differences to provide ope n and respectful opportunities for discussion of political topics among c ommunity members who voted differently in the last presidential election. With the generous collaboration of community leaders from both sides of the discussion\, our series began with an evening forum on September 29\ , 2005. Sharing commitment to speak honestly in support of community in e xchange for the provision of neutral space for discussion\, eight leaders participated in a dialogue with each other to descriptively identify are as of agreement\, disagreement\, and misunderstanding. Students enrolled for Continuing Education or graduate credit now may participate in semin ar sessions through February to discuss and establish relationships acros s political differences. Course participants' experiences and learning wi ll lead to a second free public event to be held January 19\, 2006\, and a third on March 9\, 2006. Topics and speakers will be drawn from current headlines\, old headlines\, course topics and pertinent local\, national and global issues.
