He joined the Centers for Disease Control and Preventi on (CDC) in 1989 where he has completed CDC's elite Epidemic Intelligence Service or "Disease Detectives" training program. Dr. Beach is currently Associate Director for Healthy Water in CDC's National Center for Emergi ng and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases. He also leads the Waterborne Disease Prevention Branch\, which oversees the Center's waterborne disease activ ities. These activities include domestic and international waterborne dis ease outbreak investigations\, global safe water and hygiene activities\, national surveillance for cryptosporidiosis and giardiasis\, the nationa l Waterborne Disease and Outbreak Surveillance System\, and CDC's "Health y Water" website and communication activities.
