Physics alumnus featured in The Chronicle of Higher Education

Erik Gerwick BA ’07 tells The Chronicle of Higher Educationwhy he chose to pursue a PhD in physics abroad.

Erik Gerwick BA ’07 discusses the advantages of pursuing a PhD in physics abroad in this Chronicle of Higher Education feature.

Gerwick graduated with physics honors from Lewis & Clark, where he also earned recognition for his role on the football team. He is currently studying particle-physics theory at the University of Edinburgh through the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance, which was formed in 2005 to unify physics programs throughout Scotland.

“As a student, Mr. Gerwick says he has two organizations looking after his education: his university’s physics department, which keeps an eye on his research, and the alliance’s graduate school, which broadens his education with an emphasis on such varied professional skills as communicating to the public, entrepreneurship, data analysis, and computer programming.”
