Peter Kennedy, Assistant Professor of Biology, has been awarded the 2011 Martin-Baker Award form the Mycological Society of America. The Mycological Society of America is a scientific society dedicated to advancing the science of mycology - the study of fungi of all kinds including mushrooms, molds, truffles, yeasts, lichens, plant pathogens, and medically important fungi. According to the program guidelines, “the award honors two respected teachers of whom had long and distinguished careers in mycology, and both of whom have faithfully served the Mycological Society of America in several capacities. It is awarded to a recent (within 5 years) PhD mycologist for the support of new or ongoing research.” This $2,000 research award and honor is made to the individual and is not an institutional award.
