Isaac Holeman CAS ’09 co-founded FrontlineSMS:Medic to increase access to medical care in the developing world. Recently named the best use of mobile technology for social good, the venture is featured in GOOD Magazine.

In the interview, Holeman discusses the scope of the project and its goals.

“In an emergency situation, if you’re going to have to pick up and walk 80 kilometers to the clinic, it might be too late,” said Holeman. “If the hospital can send someone on a motorcycle or send a mini-ambulance of some kind to come get you because you alerted them with a text message, that’s one great use.”
