Dean Klonoff participates in Nobel Peace Laureate Forum
Lewis & Clark Law School Dean Robert Klonoff will join former president of South Africa and Nobel Peace Prize recipient F.W. de Klerk for a forum addressing global issues.
The forum is titled Where the Leadership Will Come From to End the Korean War and Solve the Israeli Palestinian Conflict. It will take place Wednesday, February 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the University of Portland. More information on the forum can be found here.
F.W. de Klerk is known for his efforts at reform in South Africa. After meeting with Nelson Mandela, the imprisoned leader of the African National Congress (ANC), de Klerk lifted the ban on the ANC and Mandela was released. Negotiations with Mandela and other party leaders were held for the peaceful end of apartheid and transition to democratic rule. In 1993, de Klerk and Mandela were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
