Underserved Oregonians dealing with mental health, addiction, and relationship issues have a new place to turn for help: the Lewis & Clark Community Counseling Center, which recently opened near downtown Portland.
Easily accessible by public transportation, the center offers a wide range of low-cost counseling and therapy services to individuals, couples, and families. Reaching out to African American, Spanish-speaking, and LGBTQ communities is a primary goal.
“There’s a big commitment to social justice and equity,” says Associate Professor Teresa McDowell. “Our focus is on cultural competency, community service, and strength-based therapy.”
The center also provides intensive training for advanced student counselors and therapists from the Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling.
