Cara Tomlinson Receives OAC Grant and Honor

Associate Professor of Art and Art Department Chair Cara Tomlinson received a 2012 Individual Artist Fellowship from the Oregon Arts Commission (OAC). OAC awards these highly-competitive, $3,000 fellowships to “Oregon artists of outstanding talent, demonstrated ability and commitment to the creation of new work.” Although 176 applications were received for this honor, just 13 awards were given. 

In addition, Ms. Tomlinson received an additional and significant accolade: her paintings were displayed in the reception area of the Governor’s Office in the State Capitol building in Salem. This exhibition, titled Bornwith, was on display in January and February of this year. According to an Oregon Arts Commission press release, “an exhibit in the Governor’s office is considered a ‘once in a lifetime’ honor.”  More information about Cara’s work is available at:
