Two programs in Lewis & Clark’s Graduate School of Education have attracted the interest of the U.S. Department of Education—to the tune of about $2 million.

The Department of Teacher Education garnered $1.3 million for a five-year program structured to enhance English as a second language, bilingual education, and diversity projects in K-12 schools. The venture provides scholarships for 100 new Portland-area teachers to attend Lewis & Clark programs.

In addition, the Department of Educational administration partnered with the Umatilla-Morrow Educational Service District to secure more than $600,000 over three years to recruit, train, and retain principals in rural eastern Oregon schools.
