1981
Mark L. Bosse ’81 has been promoted to vice president of intellectual property at Gilead Sciences. He has been with the biopharmaceutical company, which develops and commercializes small-molecule therapeutics, for 10 years.
Marcia Peterson Zimmerman Brown MA ’81 is president of the Oregon School Counselor association.
Lisa Grill Dodson ’81 is deputy director of Oregon Health & Science University Area Health Education Centers, which aim to improve the education, training, and distribution of health care professionals in the state.
James “Jamie” L. Forman ’81 became a fellow of the American Bar Foundation last August. Forman practices in the litigation department of Rider, Bennett, Egan & Arundel in Minneapolis. He is a trustee of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and a member of several boards, including the Loan Repayment Assistance Program of Minnesota.
Lee Weinstein ’81 is global director of corporate responsibility communications at Nike. Previously, he was director of U.S. public relations. He has been with Nike for 10 years.
1982
Jay Chock JD ’82 has joined the Portland office of Dunn Carney as a partner in the firm’s litigation practice group. Chock will focus on products liability, fire loss, defamation law, construction defects, work-site injuries, premises liability, and transportation law.
Carl Murphy ’82, a commander in the U.S. Navy, is a special assistant for recruiting, retention, and compensation programs for the secretary of the Navy. He lives with his family in Springfield, Virginia.
1983
Suzanne Brown ’83 lives in Phoenix with her husband, Tony, and daughter, Katie. She has taught second grade there for the past 19 years.
Lori Willimont Duncan ’83 and her husband, Jake, have started their own company, Duncan & Duncan Wetland and Endangered Species Training and Consulting. Previously, Lori worked as a wildlife biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. After graduating from the College, she studied birds in California, Washington, Australia, the Bahamas, and the Galapagos Islands. She has completed all coursework toward a master’s degree in biological sciences from Mississippi State University.
Katherine Lacey ’83 is enrolled in a master’s degree program in drama therapy at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco.
John W. Schneider Jr. ’83 has relocated to Dallas with his wife, Rachel, and sons John, 5 1/2, and Jake, 1 1/2, to serve as director of national dealer development for Peterbilt Motors Company.
Richard A. Wilhelm JD ’83 has joined Birdwell, Janke & Durando as an associate. Previously, he worked with the Miller Nash firm in its intellectual property department.

Christian Kadas ’84 is general counsel of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. He lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife, Maddie, and son, Dylan.
George W. “Skip” McKallip Jr. JD ’84 is a partner of the Portland firm Sussman Shank. McKallip chairs the firm’s environmental law group. His litigation practice emphasizes environmental law, products liability, real estate, and commercial disputes.
Todd Nissen ’84 works in corporate communications for Ford Motor Company, supporting product development and global design.
Jan von Bergen MAT ’84 participated in a Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program, traveling throughout Japan to meet with students and teachers at primary and secondary schools and a teacher’s college.

Charles Bingham III ’85 is sports editor for the Juneau Empire newspaper in Juneau, Alaska, and has worked as a journalist in the state for 15 years.
Loretta “Loree” Benson Brand ’85 is a partner/director of account services at LoLa Communications, a graphic and interactive design firm.
Sheila Gallagher ’85 lives in Minneapolis, where she works for General Mills as director of trade marketing. She plays and coaches soccer. Her twin sons, Patrick and Ryan, are in the fifth grade.
Shelley Lynne Wood ’85 is director of operations for Denver’s Northeast School Collaborative reform initiative. Wood received a master of divinity degree from Princeton Theological seminary in 1993. She is the proud parent of two middle-school children, Eliot and Elizabeth.

David M. Blair JD ’86 and James R. Vestigo JD ’86 are partners in Blair & Vestigo. Their practice includes business, real estate, labor and employment mediation and arbitration, estate planning, family law, intellectual property, secured transactions, and personal injury.
LeAnne Desilet Frank ’86 directs public relations for Cisco Systems carrier and cable engineering systems groups. Frank lives in West Linn with her three children, Cameron, 11, Graham, 9, and Sara, 8. She trains for and competes in triathlons in her “spare” time.
Richard Lane JD ’86 and Lawrence Wobbrock JD ’77 of Lawrence Wobbrock Trial Lawyer in Portland, and Charles Tauman JD ’77 of Portland’s Bennett, Hartman, Morris & Kaplan were recently honored as finalists for the 2002 Trial Lawyer of the Year Award. They won a precedent-setting $150-million punitive damages verdict in Schwartz v. Philip Morris, the first “low-tar fraud” case against a tobacco company to go to trial.
David Newhall JD ’86, a partner with Black Helterline, serves on the American Immigration Lawyers association’s 2003 annual conference committee. He is one of six lawyers planning the program on business immigration and nonimmigrant visas.
Lisa Brundage O’Connell ’86 lives in the San Francisco Bay area with her husband, Ken, and their children, Samuel, 3, and Riley, 1. She works part time as a meeting-and-event-planning consultant.
Brigitte Dortmund Ting ’86 had a one-person show at the Artist Repertory Theatre Gallery in Portland last fall and has another solo show scheduled in Bend this summer. Ting is active with the Portland Center for the Advancement of Culture.

Nicki G. Hudson MAT ’87 became assistant principal at Sam Barlow High School in Gresham last year. Previously, she worked for the West Linn–Wilsonville and Gresham-Barlow school districts.
Bradley J. Schrock JD ’87 has joined the DuBoff Law Group. His practice includes business litigation, licensing, technology development, emerging companies, and cross-cultural transactions involving Japan.
Jane Yedinak ’87 is vice president in Golin/Harris international’s New York City office. She specializes in corporate, business-to-business, and consumer public relations.

John T. Aney ’88 was promoted to business analyst at the Mountain View, California, division of Nokia last fall. He andMary I. Dakin ’88 live in San Jose, California, with their son, William.
Blair Bobier JD ’88 opened the Law Offices of Blair Bobier. His practice addresses environmental and land use issues; services for nonprofits, small businesses, artists, and musicians; and wills, trusts, and contracts. Founder of Oregon’s Pacific Green Party and the party’s first gubernatorial candidate in 1998, Bobier will continue to provide consulting and lobbying services for public-interest organizations.
Gilion Ellis Dumas ’88, JD ’92 moved from Portland to San Francisco with her husband, James, last September. She continues to practice law independently, doing commercial litigation on a contract basis for Bay-area firms. James is a trial attorney at Shook Hardy & Bacon.

Dean N. Alterman JD ’89, a partner in the real estate department of Lane Powell Spears Lubersky, has been appointed vice chair of the Brokers and Brokerage Committee of the American Bar Association’s real property, probate, and trust law section for 2002-03.
Elizabeth Elliot ’89 and her husband, Charlie, have returned to Portland after more than five years in Northampton, Massachusetts. She is currently on leave from a teaching position at Lake Oswego High School. They have a daughter, Sophia.
Samuel Pratt ’89 is a self-employed financial adviser. He lives with his wife, Robin, and son, James, in Kauai, Hawaii.
Stephanie Reynolds ’89 is a crime prevention specialist for southwest Portland.
Frederick Schriever ’89 is a cardiac intensive care nurse in Portland and works on heart-transplant, ventricular-assist-device, and open-heart recovery teams. His sons are James and Jacob.
Jim Ustasiewski JD ’89 received a special commendation from the U.S. Department of Justice for his ongoing assistance in environmental litigation. Ustasiewski represents the U.S. Forest Service in Juneau, Alaska.
