Nicola Clark ’90 and husband David Jolly have moved from London to Paris. Nicola continues to work as a correspondent for the financial news wire Bridge News.

Kayla Mohs Fioravanti ’90 married husband Dennis in July 1998. They have two children, Keegan (7) and Selah (10). Kayla and Dennis own and operate Fioravanti Custom Products, LLC and FCP Parties, which manufactures bath and body products in Portland.

Derek Larson ’90 is an instructor in the Department of History and is director of the Environmental Studies Program at Saint John’s University/The College of Saint Benedict in Collegeville, Minn. He also is a doctoral candidate in history at Indiana University and plans to complete his dissertation on Tom McCall and Oregon environmental politics.

Kevin Noreen ’90 is employed as a code compliance specialist for Clackamas County’s Department of Transportation and Development. He and his wife, Kate, reside in Sherwood with their two children, Karina (4) and Kierin (1).

Sabrina Porcaro ’90 is training to become a court-appointed special advocate for abused and neglected children in Multnomah County.

Richard Rogers ’90 is senior group manager for Oracle Worldwide Marketing in San Francisco.

Jennifer Abbassian ’91, JD ’94 and husband James welcomed their first child, Emily Jane, who was born April 21. Jennifer is an attorney with MacMillan, Scholz & Marks, P.C., in Portland.

Smita Avasthi ’91 recently completed her dissertation and received a PhD in English literature from the University of Oregon.

Karen Pitchford Brown ’91 and husband Jim are parents of Dylan James, who was born Sept. 3, 1999. They are also parents to Jim’s daughter, Nicole (5).

Gary Dunn ’91 and Sasha Grafenstein ’92 were married in Shady Cove May 30, 1999. They live in Medford.

Debora Hall ’91 and Travis Hall JD ’98 welcomed their second child, Natalie Brooke, May 8, 1999. They reside in Stuttgart, Germany, where Travis is an attorney for the U.S. Army JAG Corps.

Thabiso Mofokeng ’91 is employed by Universitas Hospital in Bloemfontein, South Africa.

John Shellenberger ’91 recently completed a master’s program at Portland State University and is teaching for the Passages Transition Program in Vancouver, Wash.

Megan Smithwick ’91 and husband Louis reside in Portland. Megan recently returned to school at Portland Community College to earn a computer information systems degree. Louis is president of the Greater Portland Soccer Division and is active on several indoor and outdoor teams. Megan has acquired an interest in soccer and plays on several teams, too.

Pamela Strong ’91 is enrolled in the M.BA program in international studies at the University of Washington. Her educational focus is on public policy. Pamela lives in Seattle.

Greg Veerman ’91 is busy with scriptwriting for film and video. He also is involved with multimedia, print, teaching, communications and research. Greg lives in Portland.

Kate Bechtel ’92 married Dave Karlson June 26, 1999.

Maraya Deline MEd ’92 married Wade Radcliffe Aug. 14, 1999. They spent their honeymoon in Europe.

Jonathon Gourlay ’92 was married to Rosalyn Rodriguez on Nett, Pohnpei, Dec. 13, 1999. Jonathon and Rosalyn live in the Federated States of Micronesia. He is the chairperson of the Languages and Literature Division at the College of Micronesia.

Denise Julian ’92 and David Stama were married Sept. 4, 1999, in Portland.

Michelle Gibbons McGuire ’92 married Michael McGuire in 1997. She is an HIV/AIDS case manager for the Ryan White Program for Inyo County. Michelle and Michael have a son, Nathan LaJoie. They reside in Bishop, Calif.

Maya Milhous ’92 recently became the computer-assisted language learning (CALL) coordinator for the Intensive English Program at Colorado State University. She continues to teach English-as-a-second-language classes in addition to her CALL duties.

Jeffrey Nelson ’92 is codesigner at Orange Arts, the graphic arts business that he owns with Matt Johnson ’90 . Both Jeffrey and Matt play in the band UHF.

Robert Niendorf ’92 recently moved back to the Northwest after five years in San Diego, Calif. He accepted a position with Weyerhaeuser Co.’s real estate services department to handle the company’s real estate transactions and assets.

Troy Portash ’92 and Sparkle Miguel ’93 were married Aug. 20, 1999. Troy graduated from dental school in 1997 and bought a practice in 1998. The practice is located in the Hawthorne district in Portland. Sparkle works there as the bookkeeper.

John Porter ’92 lives in Boulder, Colo., and works for Travel & Leisure Golf Magazine. He plays soccer on a first-division men’s team and performs music in the evenings as a solo singer and songwriter.

Heather Skillman ’92 is a senior technical recruiter in Seattle.

Marybeth Torrenzi Stewart-Scots ’92 is the volunteer Web master for the Jewish Community of Central Oregon. She also does work with Planned Parenthood and Campfire Boys and Girls. Through her free-lance business, TWiNNiE.com, she is involved with computer operating, writing, research, design and editing.

Richard Truluck ’92 and wife Kirstie are parents of daughter Merrill Kirby, who was born Dec. 6, 1999.

Bevin Barber ’93 is an apparel designer and production manager for Terry Precision Bicycles for Women Inc. in Rochester, N.Y.

David Berteaux ’93 is a senior financial analyst at Hewlett-Packard. He and his wife, Yoshiko, have a son, Anthony.

Christine Ho ’93 married Australian mountaineer Alan Silva on her birthday May 29, 1999, in Singapore. During her honeymoon in Africa, she became the first Singaporean to reach the summit of Mount Kenya. Christine and Alan live in Hong Kong.

James (Jim) Hopper ’93 is director of development for the Idaho Shakespeare Festival. He also is involved in the planning of Boise’s Historic Preservation Week activities.

W. Craig Pickard ’93 married Marna Hagen Nov. 27, 1999.

Chris Brimhall ’94 and Carol Wenning Brimhall ’94 are the parents of son Samuel Jasper, who was born Sept. 17, 1999.

Cynthia Wood Diederich ’94 and J. Michael Zachary were married Aug. 28,1999, in the Lake House at Blue Lake Park, Troutdale.

Julia Goodrum ’94 is a disability specialist for Portland Parks and Recreation.

Laura Ivers ’94 is currently working for the Earth Negotiations Bulletin, a publication that covers United Nations negotiations on environmental issues. Her upcoming reports concern the Montreal Protocol on ozone depletion and the Convention on Migratory Species. When she is not traveling for work, Laura lives in New York City.

Shahzeb Jillani ’94 married Sabyn Javeri in Karachi March 25. Shahzeb is a reporter with Herald magazine, Pakistan’s most respected English monthly. He writes on environment, development and social issues. Shahzeb attended the United Nations Conference on Climate Change in Bonn, Germany, as the only journalist from Pakistan. Sabyn is a free-lance fashion coordinator.

Noelle Knapp ’94 graduated with an MA in German translation from the Monterey Institute of International Studies in May 1999. She works as a technical editor at Microsoft and lives in Seattle.

Steve McClure ’94 married Kymberley M. Tilbrook of Adelaide, Australia, May 27. A reception will follow at a later date. Steve is currently a contract accountant at AAPT, Australia’s third-largest telecommunications company.

Lisa Faulkingham ’95 is a trainer at Project Adventure Inc. in Hamilton, Mass.

Diana Gil-Osorio ’95 is a guest booking manager at ZDTV, a national cable and satellite network that produces programs about computing and the Internet. She lives and works in San Francisco.

Shoshana Gordon-Knight ’95 married Ian Knight on the beach in Del Mar, Calif., Oct. 10, 1999. She received her master’s degree in social work from Portland State University in June 1999 and is currently working as a corrections counselor with Multnomah County at InterChange Treatment Center. Shoshana and Ian live in Portland.

Oliver Hayden ’95 recently returned to Oregon after living on the East Coast for nearly five years. He does Web development for a political consulting firm in Eugene, works for the Downtown Athletic Club and volunteers with the Eugene City Planning Department.

Meredith L. Isom ’95 and Kelly B. Price were married in Lake Oswego Dec. 11, 1999. Meredith is an English teacher, and Kelly is a sales representative at Novartis Nutrition Corp.

Amy Peres ’95 and Kristopher Homsi were married April 1, 1999. Amy is a marketing programs manager at Intel, and Kristopher is a product manager at WellMed.

Jill Peterson ’95 is currently working with Nike’s Environmental Action Team in Beaverton as a specialist in learning, marketing and communications strategies for sustainability.

Herbert E. Swett ’95 is a copy editor with the Statesman Journal daily newspaper in Salem.

Amy Cataruzolo MEd ’96 married James Houran in July 1999. She currently teaches math and literature at the Washington School for the Deaf. Amy and James live in Portland.

Edgard Garcia ’96 is a tech translator for Freightliner Corp. after serving in the U.S. Navy and working as a manager for Bon Appetit Management Co. He is in his eighth season as a volleyball coach for a club in the Portland area.

Marta Hendrickson ’96 and Jacob Seljan were married in White Bear Lake, Minn., July 2, 1999. Marta is a fifth-grade teacher, and Jacob is a second-year M.BA student in the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. They live in St. Paul.

Cara Lane ’96 is a teaching assistant and a doctoral candidate in English and textual studies at the University of Washington. She received her MA in English from the University of Washington last year. Cara and her husband, Brent, live in Seattle.

Theodore Ryan Chung Lee ’96 and Noelani Alicia Prouse were married May 29, 1999.

Paul Mason ’96 is pursuing an advanced degree in plant biology at Cornell University and is dancing the lindy hop in the “most enlightened” town in America.

Samuel Ritter ’96 is working on an independent documentary film that focuses on African musicians.

Jennifer Rousseau ’96 and Korey Pierce were married June 19, 1999. Jennifer is a social worker, and Korey is in the U.S. Navy. They live in Portsmouth, Va.

Charmaine Houseman ’97 is working on Capitol Hill for the subcommittee on Africa. She traveled to Nigeria with Gen. Colin Powell to witness the elections there.

Timothy Orr ’97 works as an independent travel coordinator at MIR Corp., a small travel firm specializing in the former Soviet Union, Mongolia and China. He recently accompanied a group on a 16-day tour of Uzbekistan; in 1998, he spent seven months traveling through Thailand, Burma, India and Nepal.

Katherine Scott ’97 and Gregg Rees were married July 25, 1999. They live in Baltimore, Md.

Sara Civey ’98 is a law student at Willamette University.

Suzanne Liberman ’98 received the Mungasho Scholarship and is currently studying psychology at Waseda University in Tokyo.

Kenneth Parks ’98 is the editor of News Review (a Chilean newspaper written in English) and several mining publications. He also writes on a free-lance basis for the Canadian Mining Journal.
