Update on Infonet

An update on the status of the discontinuation of Infonet.

As many of you have heard, Infonet is going away.  After many years in service, it is antiquated and it no longer makes sense to maintain either the hardware or the software.  This is especially the case when much of the functionality of Infonet is also available in WebAdvisor.

Our initial plans were to turn Infonet off in December.  However, after closer consideration we will plan a slow migration of services over Spring semester with the goal of discontinuing Infonet in May, 2013.

Part of the migration process is getting feedback from you as to how you use Infonet, what tools are important to you and what tools we might add or improve in WebAdvisor, both short term and long-term.  To this end, we have scheduled two focus groups for staff and faculty to come and give us your ideas and feedback.  The first of these will be Wednesday, December 12 at 10:30 a.m. and the second will be Thursday, December 13 at 3:30 p.m., both in the Watzek Library Classroom (room 245).  During these meetings we will provide a brief overview of our plans but primarily we want to hear your thoughts and ideas.  If you are unable to attend either meeting but would like to share your thoughts, please email kelly@lclark.edu.
