Chuck received a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism and political science from Lewis & Clark College in 1958. After graduation he wrote for The Oregonian and The Wall Street Journal and edited a string of metropolitan weekly newspapers before beginning a 24-year career in institutional public relations, 19 of them as public information director at his alma mater. He retired in 2013 after a long tenure as historian and archivist for the Portland Trail Blazers. Chuck remains active as an alumni volunteer at L&C, serving on the Albany Society Board of Directors and editing The Gatehouse, a newsletter for senior alumni. He and his wife, Carol, live in Beaverton and have two grown children.
