Strategic Initiative Awards for 2013-14 help advance key initiatives
The President’s Strategic Initiatives Fund provides annual support for projects that help Lewis & Clark advance key initiatives.

The President’s Strategic Initiatives Fund provides annual support for projects that help Lewis & Clark advance key initiatives. In order to be considered for funding, one or more Executive Council members must sponsor each project.
After reviewing Strategic Initiatives Fund proposals for 2013-14, President Glassner and Executive Council have approved the following projects:
- Funds for faculty/student research in all three schools to give greater numbers of students the experience of collaborative research with faculty
- Funds for the CAS Admissions admitted student fly-in program, collaborative recruiting program, student recruitment in Indonesia and China, and a new student-to-student phone call program
- Support for first-year, transfer, and international/Third Culture Kids as a means to facilitate cohort identity
- Support for Sustainability Council initiatives for the 2013-14 academic year to sustain successful projects and promote institution-wide sustainability practices in education and operations
- Development of a pre-collegiate summer program pilot offering short courses to high school students
- Retention Student Tracking Software
- Scholarships to erase the financial gap for upperclassmen with multiple risk factors who are on target to graduate within four years
- Funds for the 2014 Davis Scholars Summit to mark the 10th anniversary of Lewis & Clark’s involvement in the Shelby Davis United World College Scholars program
- Funds to expand career development partnerships with potential employers in the Portland metro area
- Support for a “Pio-Points” initiative to encourage greater participation at campus events
- DonorCast customized research to help identify major gift prospects
- Funds for the graduate school’s 30th anniversary celebration
- Support for implementation of the graduate school’s signature conference
- Development of a new MA program in Higher Education Leadership
- Development of an online LLM postgraduate law degree in Animal Law and support to promote our program at a European conference on animal law
- One-time grants to increase yield on first-year evening law school students
- Implementation of a new summer program offering foreign attorneys a Certificate in Environmental Law
- Funds to coordinate faculty partnerships with attorneys working in federal government agencies and to increase the hiring of Government Honors Attorneys
- Support for the Environmental and Natural Resources Law program’s first Junior Scholars Writing Workshop
- Law student career fair and conference travel
- Support for the Green Energy Institute’s work including the installation of a solar energy project on the law school campus
