Michael Kidd is Professor of law and currently Deputy-Dean in the Faculty of Law at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. He holds the degrees of BCom LLB LLM and PhD all from the University of Natal. He has published widely in environmental law, particularly in matters relating to compliance and enforcement (his PhD dealt with environmental crime) and is the author of a leading South African textbook Environmental Law (2008). He is the founding editor of the South African Journal of Environmental Law and Policy. He serves on the Board of a prominent South African NGO, the Wildlife and Environment Society of Southern Africa.
