Open gallery
William Stafford (1914–93) taught at Lewis & Clark in Portland, Oregon for 30 years. He achieved international acclaim as the author of dozens of volumes of poetry, winner of a National Book Award, consultant in poetry to the Library of Congress, and Oregon Poet Laureate.
His son Kim Stafford is the author of a dozen books of poetry and prose, and the director of the Northwest Writing Institute at Lewis & Clark, where he has taught since 1979.
In this 3-part video series, Kim Stafford reflects on how his father lived, thought, taught, wrote, and, most importantly, listened—and what came of all that.
