Lewis & Clark has risen to No. 20 on Forbes’ rankings of the Top 25 Best Western Colleges 2014. This is the first time that Lewis & Clark has cracked the Top 25 Western, the result of a significant jump in Forbes’ overall America’s Top Colleges 2014 list.

Forbes is now in its seventh year of partnering with the Center for College Affordability and Productivity (CCAP) for their college rankings. According to the magazine, the list of 650 schools distinguishes itself from competitors by their belief in “output” over “input.”

“We’re not all that interested in what gets a student into college, like our peers who focus heavily on selectivity metrics such as high school class rank, SAT scores, and the like,” writes Forbes editor Caroline Howard. “Our sights are set directly on ROI: What are students getting out of college?”

In order to answer this question, CCAP gathers data in five general categories: student satisfaction, post-graduate success, student debt, graduation rate, and academic success. Lewis & Clark’s low loan default rate, numerous fellowships awarded to students and alumni, and other outstanding outcomes played a part in this year’s notable jump in rankings.

Lewis & Clark has received high marks in a variety of national rankings that honor everything from service-oriented students to sustainability to exceptional faculty. Learn more about what makes our campus exceptional.
