Overseas program highlighted by U.S. News & World Report

For the third year in a row, U.S. News & World Report has recognized Lewis & Clark’s overseas and off-campus program as one of the best in the nation.

For the third year in a row, U.S. News & World Report has recognized Lewis & Clark’s overseas and off-campus program as one of the best in the nation.

The 2015 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges issue recognizes “schools with outstanding examples of programs that education experts, including staff members of the Association of American Colleges and Universities, agree are key.”

Lewis & Clark President Barry Glassner welcomed this validation of the college’s leadership in international education.

“Whether it’s our remarkable overseas study program with its rich opportunities for research and collaboration, or the international perspectives that are brought to our classrooms every day by our students and professors, Lewis & Clark is preparing students for success in today’s society,” Glassner said.

Lewis & Clark is the only school in the Pacific Northwest to make the 2015 study abroad list, which also features Dartmouth and Stanford. The list highlights programs that “involve substantial academic work abroad for credit—a year, a semester, or an intensive experience equal to a course—and considerable interaction with the local culture.”

The overseas study program is one of the most distinguishing features of the college, attracting students from—and sending students to—every corner of the globe. More than 60 percent of Lewis & Clark students end up studying abroad, often in countries outside of Western Europe.
