Stop Before You Click - Increase in Email Phishing!

January 27, 2015

Please be aware that we are experiencing an increase in spear phishing, an email message disguised as something legitimate but whose sole purpose is to trick you into giving up information.   This is done by providing links that may look legitimate, but instead takes you to a malicious website that may successfully install malware on your computer that can continue to steal data from your system.  The scammers may also try to obtain information by other means, such as phone or fax.

You may not realize you are giving up any information until it is too late, so the best course of action is to exercise caution and not respond, reply, answer, or click.

Visit the Information Security website to learn more about best practices.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Information Security Officer.
