Oregon passed a mandatory sick leave law that went into effect on January 1, 2016.  The attached poster provides the basic guidelines of the regulations, including the expanded use of the leave.

The new law will not impact the accrual of sick leave for administrative exempt and non-exempt staff, and will be applied in the same manner as the Portland Sick Leave accrual to faculty, adjunct, temporary and other non-benefit eligible employees. Oregon Sick Leave replaces Portland Sick Leave, but employees will retain balances accrued under Portland Sick Leave and the ability to use that time.

If you have specific questions regarding this benefit, please feel free to contact Human Resources.

Student employees working in positions paid with work study funds (Federal or Lewis & Clark), or in positions that support the student’s academic purpose/mission are not eligible to accrue sick leave under this law during the academic year.
