Password Change Reminder Email Issues

For security reasons and to satisfy the annual financial audit, Lewis & Clark College requires staff and faculty to change their L&C account passwords every 180 days.  This password change affects many systems including Google, Colleague, WebAdvisor, connecting to your computer, Moodle, LC Secure, and many more. If you do not change your password during that time, it will expire and require that you perform a password reset.  
To help you in remembering to change your password, Information Technology sends out up to five reminder emails leading up to your password expiration date.
It came to the attention of IT late last week that Google was catching these email reminders in their spam filter.  The result was that people‚Äôs passwords expired with little or no advance notice. Since learning of this issue, Information Technology has worked with Google, identified why the emails were being caught as spam and have changed our process to resolve the issue. Since we no longer manage our own spam filtering and rely on Google, it now takes some investigation time to resolve these types of issues.  Thank you to the many folks who helped us identify that this issue existed.
