Dear Alumni and Friends

Lewis & Clark Law School has a very rich tradition of supporting students and faculty—and that is because of donors like you.

Lewis & Clark Law School has a very rich tradition of supporting students and faculty—and that is because of donors like you.

Since our beginnings over 100 years ago, our loyal alumni and friends have contributed generously to student scholarships, campus facilities, programs, faculty initiatives, operations, and lectures so that Lewis  &  Clark can grow to become one of the leading law schools in the nation.

This year, over 1,200 individuals, foundations, and corporate donors have stepped forward to provide financial support. We saw a 30 percent increase in the number of donors who have reengaged with us, and a 16 percent increase in the number of donors overall. Gifts raised this year totaled $2,062,104—a 12 percent increase over the last fiscal year. Annual giving reached $346,480, which represents a 5 percent increase.

This spring, we held our second annual Day of Giving campaign in collaboration with Lewis &  Clark’s undergraduate and graduate schools. Dean Jennifer Johnson once again offered a challenge gift, encouraging over 200 donors to give within the first two hours of the campaign. With your help, we ultimately raised $64,000 for the law school in just 24 hours.

The law school continues to receive tremendous support from its faculty, 100 percent of whom donated this year. Our Alumni Board of Directors, led by Dan Eller ’04, also finished the year with a 100 percent participation rate, and overall alumni participation increased from last year’s 8.8 percent to 9.86 percent.

We look forward to the 2017–18 academic year heartened by the growing support from our alumni and friends. From our fall survey, we gained a number of insights in how we can stay relevant and meet the needs of our alumni community. We are also creating a young alumni philanthropy program to give our most recent graduates an opportunity to choose what type of impact they make on the future.

And as you consider the impact you would like to make, we hope you will also recognize the outstanding job that Lewis  &  Clark Law School does ensuring that each student graduates not only with a quality education, but also prepared to embark on a successful career in the legal profession.

Your gift is an investment in the future of our community. It permits Lewis & Clark to continue attracting the most talented and diverse students—and for this we are truly grateful.

Sincerely,

Joset Grenon, CFRE
Assistant Dean for Development and External Relations
