Carol Timm ’87

2017
Pioneer Alumni Leadership Award
Meet Carol in this video!

Since her graduation, Carol has represented Lewis & Clark in a variety of capacities. Among other roles, she has served as a member and president of the Board of Alumni, and member and chair of the Hall of Fame committee; has helped organize special reunions; and has spoken at opening convocation, commencement, alumni honors banquets, and Black and Orange parties.

Born and raised in Baker City, Oregon, Carol Timm always wanted to attend a college that allowed her to pursue excellent academics while actively participating in campus life. At Lewis & Clark, she played volleyball for all four years, including for the national championship in 1986, and took part in the Scotland Overseas Program, remaining close to her homestay family to this day. Carol graduated at the top of her class, was nominated for the Rena Ratte Award (the college’s highest academic honor), and was selected as Outstanding Senior Woman. She also received the Paul Barney Award for academic excellence, participation in sports and campus life, and sense of humor.

After graduating with honors from Cornell Law School, she joined the Silicon Valley office of a global law firm specializing in technology, life sciences, and growth enterprises. Carol has served and represented Lewis & Clark in a variety of capacities. A steadfast supporter of the women’s volleyball team, she has been a member and chair of the Hall of Fame Committee as well as a member and past president of the Board of Alumni. Carol and her husband, Geoff Owen BA ’91, JD ’02, met with prospective students and their families at college fairs while representing the Admissions department, and have hosted current students and alumni at their home. She has helped organize multiple reunions—class years, athletics, overseas, and more—and has spoken at convocation, commencement celebrations, honors banquets, hall of fame inductions, reunions, fundraisers, Career Center events, Albany Society events, and Black and Orange parties.

Carol, her husband Geoff, and their two sons, Sacha and Will, recently relocated to Westford, Massachusetts. She looks forward to continuing to serve the Lewis & Clark community and celebrating the college’s past, present, and future.
