Jess Perlitz Receives Individual Artist Fellowship AND Joan Shipley Award
Assistant Professor of Art and Studio Head of Sculpture Jess Perlitz has received a 2018 Oregon Arts Commission Individual Artist Fellowship and been named the 2018 Joan Shipley Fellow. These competitive individual fellowships are designed to honor “Oregon’s professional artists and their artistic achievements.” The Oregon Arts Commission awards Individual Artist Fellows in the Visual Arts to “Oregon artists of outstanding talent, demonstrated ability and commitment to the creation of new work(s).” Further, to recognize late Oregon arts leader Joan Shipley, each year the Arts Commission designates a single special, honorary Joan Shipley Award to just one outstanding Fellow. The full OAC press release is available here.
More about Perlitz’s work is available on her website, http://www.jessperlitz.com/. Further, you can see her current project Forever washing itself in person, showing with Joel W. Fisher’s Abridged Proof, at the Hoffman Gallery now through March 18.
