10th Anniversary of the Ombuds Office

The Ombuds Office and its only Ombudsperson to date, Valerie Craigwell White, celebrate ten years of service to the Lewis & Clark community.

So there’s a decade in the rearview mirror! The Ombuds Office opened as a three-year pilot program on March 1, 2008, and became a regular department two years later.  As the only ombudsperson to staff the office since then, I’ve worked on 2356 cases with 3393 people (as of 02.28.18). The variety of cases has been dizzying in some ways, but the work almost always comes down to folks doing their best who could use a little help or an additional, confidential, perspective. Thanks to each person who has supported me and the Ombuds Office! Seriously. Thank you.
