J. Ashlee Albies, of Albies & Stark, LLC, has been practicing civil rights and employee-side employment law for over a decade. Albies has devoted her legal career to providing zealous advocacy for clients who have been harmed by discrimination, retaliation, and unfair treatment by an employer or by law enforcement or government.

She also provides legal support to democratic workspaces and local consumer and worker cooperatives. Albies has presented at many public forums about the First Amendment, free speech, creative uses of the law, trial advocacy, and civil rights litigation. One of her current projects is helping to create a legal clinic with the Uhuru Sasa Cultural Club for incarcerated people at Oregon State Penitentiary.

She is past cochair of the Portland chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, and past chair of the Oregon State Bar Civil Rights Section. In 2010, Albies was a part of a legal team honored with the Law for the People Award by the National Lawyers Guild, and has been recognized by SuperLawyers.

Originally from New Jersey, Albies earned her undergraduate degree from Cook College at Rutgers University before moving to Oregon to attend Lewis & Clark. She lives in Portland with her spouse, their two young daughters, and their two rambunctious cats.
