Katherine FitzGibbon Receives Prestigious Louis Botto Award

The award recognizes exceptional development of a professional choral ensemble by a mid-career choral leader.

Lewis & Clark Associate Professor and Director of Choral Activities Katherine FitzGibbon was named the recipient of the 2019 Louis Botto Award for Innovative Action and Entrepreneurial Zeal by Chorus America for her work as artistic director of Resonance Ensemble. The award recognizes exceptional development of a professional choral ensemble by a mid-career choral leader.

Chorus America’s president and CEO, Catherine Dehoney, said the organization is “thrilled to honor these exceptional choruses and choral leaders.” Dehoney praised FitzGibbon and Resonance Ensemble’s work to diversify their board of directors, cooperate with community partners in concert-planning, and expand the group’s budget.

The award will be presented at Chorus America’s 2019 conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, June 26–29.
