In just three short months we will be welcoming new students to campus for New Student Orientation which begins on Wednesday, August 28, 2019. As some of you may be aware, we require our incoming students to accomplish a fair number of important tasks during the summer. These tasks are outlined in the Guide to Pioneer Success (GPS), which was sent to new students in hard copy in mid-May and is available as well in digital format on the New Student Orientation website.
This year, in an effort to make the NSO checklist even more accessible, students can access their summer “to do” list from their L&C Portal. At specific intervals during the summer, the checklist will update in pre-determined phases, concurrent with checklist deadlines. The beauty of the Portal is that students can monitor their progress through the summer as task completion is updated in the Portal each week. Thanks to our colleagues in Admissions for coordinating this effort!
If you expect to have contact with entering students or their parents or other family members, it would be excellent preparation for you to have read through the GPS in anticipation of answering questions about New Student Orientation or more precisely, what tasks must be accomplished over the summer to adequately prepare students to begin New Student Orientation. Of course, if you have other NSO or Parents Preview questions, please reach out as needed.
