Alan Finn to Join Ball State University

Vice President for Business and Finance and Treasurer Alan Finn will leave Lewis & Clark to become vice president for business affairs and treasurer at Ball State University.

Vice President for Business and Finance and Treasurer Alan Finn announced today that he will leave Lewis & Clark to become vice president for business affairs and treasurer at Ball State University. Ball State is a public university in Muncie, Indiana, with more than 20,000 students. Finn’s last day at Lewis & Clark will be August 1.

“Alan has provided great leadership to Lewis & Clark during a time of many changes,” said President Wim Wiewel. “He has been a particularly strong advocate of greater transparency about financial matters. I have appreciated his close collaborations on Executive Council and with others throughout the institution. I wish him success in his new role.”

Finn arrived at Lewis & Clark in 2015 from Portland State University, where he was associate vice president for finance and budget. Previously he was the associate budget director for the State University of New York, one of the largest comprehensive systems of universities, colleges, and community colleges in the United States. He was born and raised in the Midwest.

“This was a very difficult decision for me,” said Finn. “I will miss my team members, and the entire Lewis & Clark community. This a special place, and it has been a great joy and pleasure to work with all of you. I am proud of what we have accomplished together over the past four years.”

President Wiewel will soon be meeting with departments and individuals to decide on an interim appointment and plan for a search.
