Moodle Updates for 2019-20 Academic Year

August 14, 2019

On August 14th, Moodle was upgraded from 3.5 to version 3.7 for the 2019-20 academic year.

New Dashboard

Moodle has improved the user dashboard and there are several options for managing how courses are listed. Star courses you access frequently. Change the sort order to view courses alphabetically. Hide courses you don’t access often with filters. Quickly jump to the last courses you accessed using the recent courses block.

Forum Improvements

Participants can now reply to forum posts inline. No need to open a separate window to type your reply! You can star and sort discussions. Teachers have the ability to privately reply to posts, lock discussion threads, and set a cut-off date for a forum.

New Classic Theme

Like the 3-column layout for your Moodle pages? Give the new responsive Classic theme a try.

Updated Messaging

Moodle messaging now supports group messages, a private personal space for drafts or notes, and a easy to access interface. View messages by clicking the chat bubble icon in the top menu bar.

For a complete list of new features, see the new features pages for 3.6 and 3.7.
