Nearly 200 attorneys, students, faculty, and staff attended the 28th annual Public Interest Law Project (PILP) Auction, donating over $61,500 to the organization’s Summer Award Program.

PILP honored Senior Deputy District Attorney at the Washington County District Attorney’s Office Megan Johnson with the Larry K. Amburgey Award. She was chosen for her dedication to public service, demonstrated by her work protecting children and elders from abuse and mentoring budding attorneys.

This year’s Oscars-themed auction would not have been possible without the generosity of the attendees and sponsors, or the vision and leadership of PILP President Pendrey Trammel ’19, Auction Director Silvia Badea ’20, and dozens of other PILP student volunteers.

Since its inception, summer stipends were awarded to over 300 individuals who contributed more than 110,000 hours of public interest law work at no cost to their employers, which include conservation nonprofits, human rights organizations, Native American tribes, and criminal justice organizations.
